Sponsored by the specialist Family Law firm Patience and Buchan, the Family Law Moot is a competition where teams of two will compete for the opportunity to have summer work experience at the sponsoring law firm. Iain Patience, one of the firm’s founding partners, had this to say regarding the inaugural moot back in 2012: “Patience and Buchan, Family Lawyers, are proud to support the 2012 Aberdeen University Family Law Mooting Competition. Mooting is a vital extra-curricular activity for any law student aspiring to become accomplished in representing clients in Court, which remains an essential skill for family lawyers.”
All competitors must have studied, or be studying the family law module. For Mooters interested in specialising in Family Law or are considering applying to law firms that practice Family Law, this moot is a great way to show extra-curricular interest and ability in Family Law. |
Patience and Buchan were the first firm in the North East of Scotland to specialise exclusively in Family Law and have expertise in all areas of family and child law. They are also actively involved in promoting alternative ways of resolving family law disputes. |
All 2nd-year and above students are encouraged to sign-up. If you wish to sign up in a pair, please state your partner's name on the application form. Do not worry if you do not have a partner to moot with, the Mooting Society will pair you up with someone! If you are interested in competing, please be on the look out for our announcement!
